Project profile

RELIEVE encompasses the development of a closed-loop system incorporating an AI-powered real-time brain monitoring unit capable of predicting brain-related anomalies, such as seizures, before they occur. Complementing this, a neurostimulation unit interfaces with the nervous system to either prevent these anomalies from happening altogether or alleviate their impact.

To achieve this, our AI unit monitors brain activity using a patch that records EEG (electroencephalogram) data along with other essential physiological measures. Once the AI unit identifies an impending anomaly, the neurostimulation module is activated, stimulating the vagus nerve in a non-invasive manner. Throughout this process, a so-called “active learning” occurs, where the AI system learns from the responses of the nervous system to the stimulation protocol. This valuable feedback enables the AI to refine and optimize the intervention protocol for future interventions, ensuring continuous improvement and personalized care.
