Welcome to the RELIEVE project website

Here we provide information about our collaborative work through our Pathfinder Project to both the general public and researchers in related fields.

Motivation and aim

The prevalence of neurological disorders has reached alarming levels, with nearly one in three individuals experiencing such conditions in their lifetime. Over the past three decades, global mortality rates related to neurological disorders have surged by 39%, while Disability-Adjusted Life Years (DALYs) have increased by 15%. These disorders now stand as the second leading cause of death and the leading cause of DALYs. The current preventive and management measures in place are insufficient, necessitating the development of new strategies to alleviate this growing burden.

The RELIEVE project addresses this urgent need by pioneering the development of a groundbreaking non-invasive closed-loop monitoring and intervention system for brain-related disorders. This innovative approach holds promise for the effective treatment and management of various psychiatric and neurological conditions. Our initial focus lies on epilepsy, a widespread neurological disorder affecting an estimated 70 million people worldwide. By leveraging our technology, we aim to make substantial advancements in epilepsy care and subsequently expand our efforts to other related disorders.
